Located half way between Colchester and Ipswich, just off the A12 at Stratford St Mary, SSMYE is our latest and newly renovated provision (formerly the Stratford ABC Nursery) catering for Nursery children aged 6 months to 5 years and is open 48 weeks a year.

Constable Country Childcare Trustees and management are excited and delighted to be opening Stratford St Mary Young Explorers in what was previously, the Ofsted rated Outstanding ABC Nursery building. In a year or so, we plan to replace the building with a brand new state of the art purpose built provision, aiming to open in September 2027.

The nursery is located within the grounds of Stratford St Mary Primary school and benefits from a huge natural garden and large outside covered area, in which children will benefit in terms of both their experiences and development. Outside learning is known to help with all areas of learning, aiding speech development and communication skills.

Both the setting manager and the deputy have worked with the charity for many years and have benefited from extensive training across the charity. Our experienced manager is also an Early Years teacher who can’t wait to make a positive difference to children’s lives while working alongside parents and carers to make sure that all children thrive.

We look forward to welcoming children from Stratford St Mary, surrounding villages as well as those from outside of local catchment. We will work closely with the primary school and are delighted to have the opportunity to access their forest school provision, further enhancing our offering.
