Stutton Young Explorers Forest School Provision

Stutton Young Explorers Forest School (SYEFS) is latest venture, operating from a protected woodland close to Stutton Village Hall.

Stutton Young Explorers Forest School operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays during term time. Both sessions are held in community woodland in Stutton, with the use of the community Hall during extreme weather days.

SYEFS provides forest school education for 3-4 year olds and was established in September 2023. Sessions run from 9-3 on site with the option of extended care provided at Stutton Young Explorers where children can be collected or dropped back for those that need longer day provision (charges apply).  Parents/carers are able to use government funding towards the hours at Forest School and pay an additional charge.

SYEFS follows the Forest school ethos :-

1.  A long-term process of weekly sessions which are planned, adapted and reviewed.

2.  A woodland and farmland setting supports the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world

3.  Children have the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.

4.  We promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners.

5.  Run by qualified practitioners who continuously maintain and develop their professional Practice.

6.  Provision of a wide range of learner-centred processes to create a positive environment for development and learning

How is this achieved?

1. We work on a maximum ratio of 1 staff to every 4 children with a maximum of 12 children

2. We cover the  Governments Early Years Foundation Stage principles of learning

3. We put the joy into learning

4. Hot dinners delivered to site
